Man facing drug, weapon charges

TARBORO — An arrest Tuesday night has a Tarboro man in custody and more than 100 grams of marijuana seized.

Ryan Christopher Joyner, 16, of 2401 Deanie Ave., was arrested following a search of his person and residence after information was provided to the Tarboro Police Department.

Joyner is being held in the Edgecombe County Detention Center under a $2,000 secured bond, charged with felony possession of a handgun with an altered serial number, felony maintaining a dwelling for the use of narcotics, possession of a handgun by a minor, possession of counterfeit bills, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer and sale and possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana.

Lt. Keith Hale of the Tarboro Police Department said that Patrolman Rick Mann received information regarding Joyner having a large amount of marijuana.

Joyner was stopped in his vehicle during a routine traffic stop and a search of his person revealed a large amount of marijuana.

Mann obtained a search warrant of Joyner's residence where 143 grams of marijuana was found along with several counterfeit $1 bills and a couple of weapons, one of which had an altered serial number.
