PINETOPS —
PINETOPS — G. W. Carver Elementary School celebrated it 17th Annual Variety Show on Tuesday night. Each year the talents of Carver's youth is showcased to celebrate Music In Our School's month. This year the theme was "It Starts With Me". The talent show is put on by Carver with the incredible help of Becky Johnson, the school's music teacher. The talent show is a fund raiser for the music department.
This year the students tap danced, sang, roller skated, played musical instruments and even did a hula hoop performance. The show featured 15 performances followed by a grand finale of all the performers singing their theme song "It Starts With Me". The talent show is open to grades first through fifth as well as to staff members and parents. Auditions were held to choose the acts, based on several criteria. The performers have to meet certain academic standards as well as present an age appropriate talent. Many students choose to participate each year in the show, and you can watch their talents grow. There were several unique acts in this year talent show. First Grader, Macy Daughtridge, who was the youngest performer of the night, performed tricks while hula hooping to the song "Kiss You". The 70's were celebrated by Carly Cole and Macy Allen in a roller stating routine of "Boogie Wonderland". Lucino Sanchez and his family performed two songs at the end of the night. Lucino is a fifth grader so this was his last performance in the talent show. Lucino dedicated their last song "Seasons in the Sun" to the victims of Sandy Hook.
William Ellis, Carver's principal, was the host—emcee for the night. He did a wonderful job uplifting the crowd and cheering on the young performers. Mr. Ellis also made a point to thank all those who helped and donated to the make the talent show possible. Donations were provided by Service Drug and Flowers by Roberts. The sound and lighting systems were supplied by Jimmy Bryant. A warm heartfelt thanks was offered to all staff members as well as parents whose support and time made the event happen. Each and every act was absolutely wonderful and Carver school is so very lucky to have many bright young stars.

My 13 years have been lucky
It was 13 years Sunday that a drought was broken in Big Spring, Texas, After that, we ate Mexican for dinner with a gathering of family and friends.
The next day, a Saturday, Stephanie and I joined one another in marriage under a beautiful little gazebo by Comanche Trail Lake, fed by the historic spring from which the community draws its name.

Great fondue
My husband and I love to entertain. We also love fondue. I have 4 or 5 fondue pots. I use them regularly. Some of them I have had for a long time.
Fondue began as a way to use up old, hardened cheese. The original fondue was cheese with wine. You then dipped hardened pieces of bread into the mixture. In America, the 1950's was the height of the fondue craze. However, it appears to be making a comeback. - Budget Friendly Deliciousness
