TARBORO — The following people were either charged with crimes or cited for traffic violations during the past week by the Tarboro Police Department.

Jan. 23

• Christopher Lee Rowe, 17, of 1301 Warren St., Tarboro, was cited for no operators license.

• Lakiesha Nechelle Cross, 32, of 1317 W. Wilson St. Apt. 17B, Tarboro, was charged with failure to appear in court, driving while license revoked, expired registration plate and inspection violation. She was jailed under a $1,000 secured bond.

• Peggy Hance Poole, 34, of 3602 Clayton Place, Tarboro, was charged with trespassing. She was jailed under a $1,000 secured bond.

• Juan Jose Esteban, 53, of 757 Cedarbrook Dr., Rocky Mount, was cited for failing to stop at a stop sign.

• Clifton Maurice Joyner, 33, of 646 NC 111 S, Tarboro, was cited for inspection violation and expired registration plate.

• Shonnika Deltrece Moore, 21, of 613 E. Wilson St., Tarboro, was cited for driving while license revoked and expired registration plate.

• Tonya Simone Floyd, 41, of 103 South st., Hamilton, was cited for expired registration plate.

•Kimberly Shontay Whitaker, 29, of 1305 Old Country Road, Rocky Mount, was charged with failure to appear in court, driving while license revoked, fictitious registration plate and insurance violation. She was jailed under a $1,000 secured bond.

Jan. 24

• Candice Chanice Lane, 24, of Apt C2 Georgetown, Tarboro, was cited for no operators license.

• Shalonte Laprie Ruffin, 29, of 405 E. Eleventh St., Scotland Neck, was cited for failure to reduce speed.

• Natahsa Marie Perkins, 28, of 200 W. Hope Lodge St. Apt. 39, Tarboro, was cited for no financial responsibility, failure to surrender revoked registration plate to DMV.

Jan. 26

• Nuland Roy Cox, 51, of 205 W. Battle Ave., Tarboro, was charged wit assault on a female and assault on a government official.

• Anna Blanch Stiles, 26, of 205 W. Battle Ave., Tarboro, was charged with simple assault.

• Leslie Darnell Morgan, 51, of 406 E. Baker St. Apt. 2B, Tarboro, was charged with failure to appear in court. he was jailed under a $1,000 secured bond.

• Leslie Allan Hinds, 61, of 110 Duke Road, Winterville, was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign.

Jan. 28

Reanna Michelle Staton, 25, of 805 W. St. James St., Tarboro, was charged with failure to comply with monetary portions.

• Kimberly Faye Cherry, 28, of 906 W. Howard Ave., Tarboro, was cited for no operators license and tint violation.

• Luis Armando Arteaga, 27, of 415 Richwood Road, Wellford, SC, was cited for no operators license.

• Jose Noyola Perez, 30, of 805 Shepard School Road, Zebulon, was charged with no operators license and driving while impaired. He registered .11 on blood alcohol content. He was jailed under a $300 secured bond.

• Nesha Corey Smith, 36, 1500 Springbrook Dr., Greenville, was charged with failure to appear in court.

NC Symphony coming to town on May 31
Tarboro area residents will be among a select few who will have the opportunity to hear a live performance from the North Carolina Symphony this summer.
When the music begins at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 31 on the Town Common, locals will be the first in the state to enjoy one of eight free outdoor performances as the Symphony takes to the road.

Use Your Summer Tomatoes
One of the most wonderful things about summer is fresh tomatoes. I could eat them three times a day. The tomatoes that we find in the market during the winter just aren’t the same. They don’t taste like they are even in the same family. Of course that’s because they are picked green and shipped all over the country. However, during the glorious days of summer, we can find fresh, ripe locally grown tomatoes almost anywhere. Do you have tomatoes yet? We don't and I can hardly wait! Our plants look great but alas, no tomatoes yet.
