TARBORO — Two men are being held under $100,000 secured bond after Tarboro police discovered a weapons cache in their residence, but police are still trying to sort out the details of a shooting that led to their arrest.

Police received a shots fired call from the 500 block of Howard Avenue around 2 a.m. Wednesday, followed moments later by a call reporting an unresponsive man a block north on Chestnut Street.

Police obtained few details from the victim, who had been shot, as emergency personnel were working on him, but did locate blood splatter on the sidewalk at the Howard Avenue location. It was at that location that a crime scene was established and officers began working a five-block radius as part of the investigation.

As the investigation continued, officers began surveilling a residence at 800A Howard Ave. After watching for a little while, they observed 31-year old Raabe Eugene Vick exit the residence, get into a vehicle and drive away. Officers pursued and stopped the vehicle and took Vick into custody.

Officers then returned to the residence and asked 25-year old Joshua Lawrence Vick for permission to search it, which was granted. While inside, officers found five weapons and ammunition including two guns in a couch in the den area, a .38 revolver in a chair and a 9MM and an SKS rifle underneath the bed. The SKS is a Soviet semi-automatic rifle chambered for a 7.62 x 39mm round.

Detective Sgt. Bruce Edwards and Detective Dwayne Owens questioned the brothers, but neither would confess to the shooting.

Raabe Vick was charged with going armed to the terror of the public, discharging a firearm in the city limits, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and Joshua Vick was charged with felony conspiracy, going armed to the terror of the public, discharging a firearm in the city limits and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

They were both placed in the Edgecombe County Detention Center.

Raabe Vick was released from prison in January 2010 after serving two years and eight months for discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling. He has also served time for two counts of driving while impaired, speeding to elude arrest, possessing schedule II controlled substances and possessing stolen goods.

The identity of the shooting victim was not released.

Every time she takes the field she gets better and better, because of her hard work and the help of her teammates. Her hard work paid off for her during her junior year as she led the Vikings with a winning record, co-confoerence championship and into the playoffs for the second consecutive season.

My husband and I love to entertain. We also love fondue. I have 4 or 5 fondue pots. I use them regularly. Some of them I have had for a long time.
Fondue began as a way to use up old, hardened cheese. The original fondue was cheese with wine. You then dipped hardened pieces of bread into the mixture. In America, the 1950's was the height of the fondue craze. However, it appears to be making a comeback.

Edgecombe Garden Club honors members
The Edgecombe Garden Club met May 1 for their noon luncheon at the Fountains of the Albemarle. After President Pauline Nicolosi greeted everyone, Sandra Joyner, Devotion Chairman, read “Torch” which was about our tongues torching good or evil.
Hostess Barbara Getzug described her specially designed flower arrangement of mock orange, snowball, purple columbine, and many varieties of roses. President Pauline, Hostesses Gloria Wall and Louise Fleming did the table arrangements. They contained wiegelia, azalea, ivy, mock orange, and ligustrum.
