Crafts and collectibles — plus an auction/raffle — will highlight three days of fundraising activities to benefit Tarboro TNR (trap, neuter and return) and Feline Friends, Inc. and the Friends of the Tarboro Animal Shelter.
“Catnip, Crafts & Collectibles” gets under way at 2:30 Thursday and will be held at the Sullivan Building, located across the street from the Post Office in historic downtown Tarboro. The activity is a Second Saturday event.
Over 100 items have been collected for the “Pick of the Litter” auction/raffle, while there will also be a book/DVD/VHS sale and a pet boutique.
The auction/raffle includes a Kindle, a steak dinner and wine pairing for six at the Albemarle, a Canon photo printer, hand-painted Max Russell gifts, a $50 gift certificate from The Daily Southerner and much more.
In addition, a number of vendors including Ronnie Ellis, Watson Brown Photographs, Maxwell’s Eggs, Margaret’s Flowers & Gifts, Caroline’s Creations, Laurie K. (dichronic glass pendants) and the Doll House (Marx dollhouses, story book dolls and Barbie clothes) will participate.
The “Pick of the Litter Auction” ticket drawing will begin at 2:30 Saturday. In the auction, a sheet of 20 tickets may be purchased for $10 and purchasers will then place a ticket (or tickets) in a jar set alongside the item on which they are bidding.
“It’s going to be very exciting and different, because this is a new concept,” said Sarah Peveler,, president of Tarboro TNR. “Picking what you would like to win gives you a choice in this raffle.”
The sale will be open from 2:30 -6 p.m. Thursday, 11:30 a.m.- 6 p.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m.- 3 p.m. Saturday. In addition, there will be a sidewalk message board that lists daily vendor specials, including Calvary Churchyard botanicals from Watson Brown on Thursday, ribeye sandwiches from Blazen Cattle and items from Curiosities on Friday and on Saturday, kittens will be available to be adopted and patrons can see and name Maxwell’s babies.
