TARBORO — The Town of Tarboro is once again celebrating Public Power Week and three electricity customers will be happy they are.
For the third year in a row, the town is running it's popular Bumper Sticker Contest.
The same decal as used in the past two years, there are still decals available at City hall for those that need one. They are free.
During Public Power Week (Oct. 2-8), spotters will scout the town for potential winners. Every day they will turn in the license tag numbers of the vehicles they spot having a Public Power bumper sticker.
Winning license tag numbers will be drawn by Mayor Donald Morris at the Town Council meeting on Oct. 10. Winning numbers will be posted in the Town Hall lobby, in The Daily Southerner and on Channel 13.
Winners must contact the collections office, either in person or by calling 641-4220 by 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14.
Winning vehicles must be available for verification.
First prize is a $300 credit on your residential utility bill, second prize is a $200 credit and third prize is a $100 credit.
"We figured people would rather have a credit than and prizes we could buy," said tarboro Collector of Revenue Lynne Fleming.
