TARBORO —
The Tarboro Police Department is continuing its investigation into an armed robbery that occurred Friday morning at the River Oaks Biz Center, located in the River Oaks Shopping Center on the opposite end from Wal-Mart.
No one was injured in the incident and an undisclosed amount of money was taken. Yellow tape marked the crime zone for several hours Friday, as police cruisers were parked near the sidewalk. Access in and out of the parking lot was blocked while police conducted a search for the perpetrators.
A spokesman for the Tarboro Police Department said the investigation is ongoing and he did not release pertinent details concerning the incident. Late Sunday afternoon, the department's Facebook page continued to carry the message, "Information will be released soon regarding the incident that took place in the River Oaks Shopping Center."
The business operates sweepstake machines which was banned by the North Carolina Supreme Court in January. River Oaks Business Center is one of two in Tarboro that was closed in January by the Tarboro Police Department. Since then, River Oaks, as well as other sweepstakes has reopened.
