Courtney Danielle Burroughs and James Edward Dupree, III were married at 5 p.m., July 11, 2009 at Rock Springs Center in Greenville, N.C. Rev. Marshall Pridgen, Jr. performed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Kenneth Wayne Burroughs and Connie Baker Burroughs of Rocky Mount. The groom is the son of James Edward Dupree, Jr. and Betty Jo Meeks Dupree of Tarboro. Grandparents of the groom are Clayton and Ann Meeks of Tarboro. The bride was given in marriage by her father, Kenneth Wayne Burroughs.
Carrie Pittman, of Wilson, friend of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were, Sarah Strayhorn, of Raleigh, Claire Mullen, of Durham, and Lindsay Creech, of Chapel Hill, all friends of the bride. Minta Dupree, of Tarboro, cousin of the groom, served as Register Attendant.
James Edward Dupree, Jr. of Tarboro, father of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Daniel Dupree, of Tarboro, brother of the groom, Chad Burroughs, of Rocky Mount, brother of the bride, Daniel Peters, of Ann Arbor, MI, friend of the groom, and James Hussey, Jr., of Tarboro, friend of the groom. Ushers were Christopher Turner, of Rocky Mount, cousin of the bride, and Neil Dupree, of Tarboro, cousin of the groom.
A reception was held at Rock Springs Center in Greenville, N.C. Following a wedding trip to Jamaica, the couple will live in Tarboro.
The bride is a graduate of Southwest Edgecombe High School, UNC-Chapel Hill, and East Carolina University School of Social Work. She is employed by Community Home Care and Hospice. The groom is a graduate of Tarboro High School and UNC-Wilmington. He is employed by Roberson Dupree Shoe Store.
On July 5, 2008, an engagement party was given by Randy and Bevelie Turner at their home.
On December 14, 2008, a holiday shower was given by Bevelie Turner at her home.
On April 18, 2009, a bridal shower was given by Marrietta Chewning, Gail Proctor, and Ann Meeks at Trinity Baptist Church.
On June 6, 2009, a lingerie shower was given by Nancy Turner and Beth Lewis at the home of Beth Lewis.
On June 11, 2009, a bridal shower was given by Lisa Craven and Tisa Dawson at Community Hospice’s corporate office.
On June 14, 2009, a cookout was given by the bride’s family at the home of Brenda Guyant.
On June 19, 2009, a bridal shower was given by co-workers at Community Home Care and Hospice.
On June 27, 2009, a bachelorette party was given by the bridal party at Nags Head, N.C.
On July 10, 2009, an after rehearsal dinner was given by the parents of the groom at Rock Springs Center, Greenville, N.C.
