Kanesha LuVette Spruell and Lamont Bradsher were united in holy matrimony on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 3 o'clock in the afternoon at New Morning Star Church of Christ in Rocky Mount, NC. Rev. Kenneth R. Hammond, the couple's Pastor, of Union Baptist Church in Durham, NC, officiated the double-ring ceremony. She was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, brother and sister. The bride's father prayed a prayer of faith and the groom sang "You're My Angel" to the bride. Special guest soloist, Rev. Luther Barnes, serenaded the couple with a beautiful rendition of "It's Your Time."
The bride is the daughter of Rev. & Mrs. Jerry Spruell of Tarboro, North Carolina. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. James (Mick) Bryant, Sr. of Tarboro and the late Mr. & Mrs. Thurston Spruell, Sr. of Oak City, NC. The groom is the son of Mr. & Mrs. William Jones of Durham, NC and Mr. Douglas Bradsher, also of Durham. He is the grandson of the late Mr. & Mrs. Anthony Smith of Roxboro, NC.
The bride wore a strapless white gown by Casablanca, embedded with metallic embroidery & appliques adorned with Swarovski crystals. It featured a Basque waist and a tiffany length train. The tiara had bands of Swarovski crystals accented with rhinestones. The regal cathedral length veil was embellished with crystals on Alencon lace accented with a blusher. The bride's jewelry complimented the gown and tiara perfectly in both style and design. She chose the calla lily for her bouquet which was the central decorative feature at both the wedding and reception.
LaTosha Spruell-Jenkins, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. Temekia Shaw, best friend of the bride, of Tarboro, served as maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Rowena Carney, sister-in-law of the bride, of Durham; Dana Haith, friend of the bride, of Charlotte; Yashika Jones, friend of the bride, of Durham; Wymeatric Lyons, friend of the bride, of Tarboro; Chiquana Dancy, friend of the bride, of Durham; Michelle Purcell, sister of the groom, of Roxboro; and Lauren Townes, niece of the groom, of Raleigh.
Junior bridesmaid was Mickala Black, cousin of the bride, of Tarboro. Miniature bride was Brenna Bryant, cousin of the bride, of Tarboro. Little Miss Jeanyzha Jenkins, niece of the bride, of Rocky Mount, was an adorable flower girl.
Serving as Hostesses were Jahnena Powell and Ava Reynolds of Tarboro; Latrice Drummonds of Maryland; Miya Bryant, of Rocky Mount, all cousins of the bride; Kimberly Harrison, of Rocky Mount and Jewel Gray of Tarboro, god sisters of the bride; Morgan Purcell and Leah Paylor, nieces of the groom, of Roxboro, NC.
Serving as Registry Attendant was Alice Black of Tarboro, aunt of the bride.
Aaron McCullum of Chapel Hill, and Robert Williams, of Cary, served as best men. Groomsmen were: Harold Carney, brother of the bride, of Durham; Alexander Smith, brother of the groom, of Durham; Leon Bradsher, cousin of the groom, of Durham; Paul Purcell, brother-in-law of the groom, of Roxboro, Chadwick Dixon, Christopher McGhee, Frank McGhee, all cousins and friends of the groom.
Ushers were: Wayne Bryant, Jr., cousin of the bride; Torrey Carrington, Albert Mitchener, DeWayne Washington and Marcus Hackney; all friends of the groom.
Ring bearer was Zachary Paylor, nephew of the groom.
Junior groomsman was Tyriq Bradsher, son of the groom.
Music for the ceremony was provided by organist/pianist, Mr. Raymond Watkins, of Hillsborough; Mr. Corey Thompson of Raleigh; Ms. Shelly McLamb of Raleigh; Mr. Johnny Hudson of Raleigh; and Rev. Luther Barnes of Rocky Mount.
Wedding director was Mrs. Jean Spruell-Boyd, cousin of the bride of Oak City. The bride's colors were cognac and gold and the church was decorated as a beautiful flower garden by Ms. Selita Battle. As a symbol of love and partnership, two doves were released by the couple immediately following the wedding ceremony.
The groom's parents hosted an after-rehearsal dinner, catered by Abrams of Tarboro, on the campus of New Morning Star Church of Christ, immediately after the wedding rehearsal.
The cocktail reception was held at the Benvenue Country Club in Rocky Mount. The bride chose a strapless ivory fitted evening gown with a lace up back as her reception attire.
Attorney Teresa DeLoatch Bryant, aunt of the bride of Tarboro, directed the wedding reception. The ballroom was exquisitely decorated in white, camel, and gold with unique and spectacular fresh floral arrangements provided by All About Flowers. Guests enjoyed fellowshipping with each other, delicious food, and good music provided by both a live band and a D.J. at the reception. Glass coaster favors bearing a calla lily design in white satin monogrammed satchels were given as a token of love and thanks to each reception guest.
Some of the events held for the couple include: an engagement party hosted by Jean Spruell-Boyd; a lingerie shower hosted by Angela Bryant, aunt of the bride; a miscellaneous shower hosted by Temekia Shaw & LaTosha Jenkins; a Day at the Spa hosted by Delores Darkes, sister of the groom; a bridal shower hosted by the bride's co-workers; a bachelorette party hosted by Temekia Shaw, LaTosha Jenkins and Jewel Gray; and a bachelor party hosted by friends of the groom.
The bride is a graduate of North Carolina Central University of Durham, NC with a double major in Political Science & Public Administration. She is employed with the County of Durham. The groom attended North Carolina Central University. He is employed with Union Baptist Church in Durham; Sweet Dreams; and Doc McKenzie & The Hi-Lite Group.
The couple took a honeymoon cruise to the Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands and Cozumel, Mexico. They now reside in Durham.
