Jennifer Renee Winchester and Charles Joseph Taylor were united in marriage at 2 p.m. on May 2, 2009 at Saint James United Methodist Church in Tarboro. The ceremony was officiated by Rev. Jim Wilson and Rev. Caswell Shaw. Following the ceremony a reception, given by the bride’s parents, was held at the Main Street Inn.
The bride is the daughter of Robert and Sandra Winchester of Tarboro. She is the granddaughter of Donald and Betty Winchester of Tarboro and Russell and Eloise Barnes of Woodland. The bride graduated from Tarboro High School and magna cum laude from East Carolina University with a B.S. in Biology. She is currently a third year dental student at the University of North Carolina, School of Dentistry.
The groom is the son of Ted Taylor of Rocky Mount and Debra Taylor of Wilson. He is the grandson of Elizabeth Taylor of Tarboro and the late Joseph Taylor and the late Charles and Deanie Edwards. The groom graduated from Tarboro High School and cum laude from North Carolina Wesleyan College with a B.A. in Criminal Justice. He is currently employed by Chatham County Sheriff’s Department.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. Matron of Honor was Billie Sumerlin Jones of Denton, cousin of the bride. Bridesmaids were Diann Taylor Webb of Tarboro, sister of the groom, Jessica Neal Kent of Greenville, friend of the bride, and Ashley Myers of Tarboro, friend of the bride. Flower girls were Gwyneth Jones of Denton, cousin of the bride and Carley Webb of Tarboro, niece of the groom.
Best man was Ted Taylor of Rocky Mount, father of the groom. Groomsmen were Brian Winchester of Tarboro, brother of the bride, Ashley Taylor of Tarboro, uncle of the groom, and Allen Letchworth of Pinetops, friend of the groom. Ring bearer was Thad Jones of Denton, cousin of the bride.
Acolyte was Ash Taylor of Tarboro, cousin of the groom. Cross bearer was Josh Webb of Tarboro, nephew of the groom.
Guest Register attendants were Penny Winchester Thompson of Tarboro, aunt of the bride and Kaitlyn Thompson of Tarboro, cousin of the bride.
The wedding was directed by Addie Lewis and Brandy Scott, both of Tarboro. Music for the ceremony was provided by Terry Coley, organist and Shelley Maddox, soloist.
Greeters at the reception were Aimee and Anna Katherine Edmondson of Tarboro.
Cake was served by Diann Harrell of Wilson and Leslie Taylor of Tarboro, aunts of the groom.
Following their honeymoon to Aruba, the couple will live in Chapel Hill.
An after rehearsal dinner and party featuring Jim Quick and the Coastline Band was given by Ted and Betty Jo Taylor at Stack’s Restaurant in Tarboro.
