Dinorah (Dina) Martinez and Dr. William Thomas Tyson, Jr. were united in marriage in a double ring ceremony on April 19, 2008 on the lawn of the lovely home of Mack and Dr. Susan McMillan along the Hillsborough River in Temple Terrace, FL at one o'clock in the afternoon. The wedding was officiated by the Rev. Dr. Ken J. Walden from Pomona, CA, friend of the groom.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Tomas and Dinorah Martinez of Hialeah, FL. She is a graduate of Monsignor Pace High School in Hialeah, FL, received her BA degree from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL. She also received a Masters degree in Anthropology from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ, a Masters degree in Public Health from the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL and is currently a PhD candidate in Anthropology at the University of South Florida. She is employed as a Research Coordinator at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa.
The groom is the son of Minister and Mrs. William and Mildred Tyson of Tarboro, NC. He attended Tarboro High School and graduated from the N C School of Science and Mathematics in Durham, NC. He received his BA in Sociology and Psychology from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC, his Masters degree and his PhD in Sociology from Duke University, Durham, NC. He is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL.
Her godfather, Ramon Llovett of Miami, FL, escorted the bride, Her matron of honor was Adria Jensen, friend of the bride, from Sarasota, FL. The bridesmaids were Janelle Menard from Orlando, FL, Antoinette Powell from Palm Harbor, FL both friends of the bride, and Elayne Heisler from Bethesda, MD, friend of the groom. The Junior Bridesmaid was Valeria Alvarez and the flower girl was Julia Alvarez both from Jacksonville, FL, daughters of friends of the bride.
The groom's Best Woman was Maria Tyson, from Raleigh, NC, sister of the groom. The Best Man of Honor was Pradeep Vanguri from Tampa, FL, friend of the bride and groom. The groomsmen were Jason Cogdill from Clemmons, NC, friend of the groom, Tyler Gellasch from Washington, DC, friend of the groom and Eliot Lee from Dos Lobos, CO, friend of the bride. Ring bearer was Thomas Cogdill from Clemmons, NC, and son of friends of the groom.
After an Alaskan Cruise and touring points in the state of Washington and British Colombia, the couple is living in Tampa, FL.
