"Alice's Restaurant"
For over 10 years, Tarboro's own Hannah Wilson has been waiting for the perfect opportunity to collaborate with her parents (Kevin and Trish Wilson, owners of Saint Anne's Chapel) on a special theatrical production. This November, her patience will finally pay off.

The Great Tarboro Art Bazaar
Every November, the Edgecombe County Cultural Arts Council turns its headquarters, the historic Blount-Bridgers House into a grand art bazaar. The draw of the “historical” house is set aside for the month. Showtime begins November 3rd with a members-only gala preview, with the house brimming from every nook and cranny with original artworks by local and regional artists from eastern North Carolina and from around the Triangle. Letters went out early September to the arts council’s growing number of participating artists to announce this year’s annual show and sale.

THE TAR RIVER PLAYERS ANNOUNCE NEW SEASON
The Tar River Players will stage their 20th show this fall. That’s not a small number of productions for any troupe, but it is a particular salute to a community of our size. To support such an artistic endeavor for six continuous seasons and nineteen shows is quite an accomplishment.

Car Show next week
If the truth be told, the Edgecombe County Veterans Museum will try about anything to raise money toward the renovation of the Colonial Theater.
That's why the museum's board of directors agreed to sponsor a car show next Saturday, Aug. 20 hosted by the Heaven-Bound Custom Car Club and the Resurrection Riders motorcycle group, both of Tarboro.
The show will be in the town parking lot next to the Colonial Theater. -
'A book for true mature Christians'
On the Amazon website, one of the reviews of "Will You Sparkle in the Light: An End of the Age Crash Course in the Supernatural and Spiritual Things of God" ($22.95 paperback) states: "It is a perfect book for the times in which we live."
Author Linda L. Evans hopes so.
"I'm not a writer," she said.
Most folks will remember Evans, 61, sold advertising in Rocky Mount for The Daily Southerner in 2003-06. After being out of work for more than two years, she is back selling ads, this time for the Washington Daily News in the town she has lived for the last nine years. -
