TARBORO —
The Tarboro Vikings defeated their rival the North Edgecombe Warriors 25-14, 25-13, 22-25, 25-15 Monday in Tarboro. Miressa Dickens led the Vikings with 19 service points including 11 in Game 2. Parker Cannon added 16 service points and Kailyn Abrams 14.
Tarboro (3-2) appeared dominate in spurts but somehow allowed the Warriors to claw back in each set.
"This was a good win, but I didn't feel like we came out with the intensity and enthusiasm that we did last Thursday against Northern Nash – that was disappointing" said Vikings Coach Jamie Willoughby.
The Vikings returned four seniors and Willoughby has hope of competing for a conference title. Last season the Vikings finished 10-12.
In the J.V. game, the Vikings defeated North 25-15, 25-16.
Tarboro will travel to Pinetops today to take on the Cougars. The JV game starts at 5 p.m. and the varsity teams will follow.
