TARBORO —
Paying it forward is what the 3rd Annual Robert Williams Memorial Golf Tournament, held on Aug. 18 at The Links at Cotton Valley was all about and it was a huge success.
A total of 145 golfers participated in the tournament and about 100 other persons attended to remember Robert Williams and help raise funds to help Michael Radford and his family.
As a result of the generous support from family, friends and area
Businesses, organizers were able to present Radford and his family with a check in the amount of $6,971.75.
The proceeds came from tournament fees and from sponsors and businesses such as Keihin Carolina System Technology, Krispy Kreme, Taco Bell, Chick-Fil-A, Abrams Bar-B-Q, Pridgen Motor Co., Eatmon Leasing Inc., nspect-A-Car, The Print Shoppe, Taylor Made Jewelry, Generations Tile and D & J Seamless Gutters.
The tournament, which had its beginnings to honor Williams, has now grown into one that helps raise funds to financially assist those battling a debilitating disease.
Next year’s tournament — and paying it forward to another family — is already being planned.
