FOR THE DAILY SOUTHERNER
TARBORO — Brothers, Leaton, left, and Carrson White recently shot two tundra swans during a hunting outing. Both swans taken by the White brothers were mature birds and were taken over decoys with a 20-gauge shotgun. North Carolina allows swan hunting by permit only and issues a limited number of swan permits to valid license holders each year. Both brothers hold a lifetime hunting license in North Carolina and have been awarded permits for the past two seasons. The tundra swans have a wing span of six feet wide and can weigh as much as 20 pounds.
