FOR THE DAILY SOUTHERNER
TARBORO —
• CLASSIC DINER, and everyone associated with the downtown eatery — including owners BUD and SHIRLEY WOOLARD, son BRANDON and manager MANDY RAY — for making Easter 2012 so very special for dozens of local youngsters, but especially little Harper Doughtie, who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia last fall.
Thanks to that group, who really are classic, little Harper got to spend an hour with the Easter Bunny and left with an ear-to-ear smile on her face — as would those children who would follow and get to visit with the king of hippity hop.
• LISA STATEN and DARIUS PIPPEN, who took it upon themselves to put together and distribute 210 Easter baskets in Princeville on Good Friday.
In addition, the couple hired a photographer so the youngsters would have a keepsake photo, lined up a magician, rented three inflatable bouncers and sat back and watched the smiles appear on the faces of the kids.
• EDGECOMBE COUNTY 4-H MEMBERS, who participated in the 75th annual Edgecombe County Livestock Show this week at the East Carolina Agriculture and Education Center.
• SUNSET CHURCH OF GOD, for continuing the tradition of its Easter program, “Through Peter’s Eyes.”
• The many VOLUNTEERS, including the TARBORO HIGH SCHOOL BOOSTER CLUB, who put in countless hours to make our annual Tarboro Easter Classic baseball tournament possible.
