To our visitors, thanks for coming, and come again!

TARBORO — A visitor came to the office of The Daily Southerner on Thursday afternoon, seeking some of our magazines and our Discover Edgecombe section to give to our out-of-town baseball visitors.

Once again, we’d like to welcome you to our community and tell you the door to our community is always open.

Many times, it takes an “outsider” to make us aware of the things we take for granted.

“The people here are so much nicer than they are up north,” said one Padua, Ohio fan on opening day of the tournament. “Everyone is just so friendly and nice.”

Thank you ... and we think our little part of the world is pretty darn special. Our tourism folks call it a “front porch kind of town” and it definitely feels like home in a Thornton Wilder kind of way.

We hope you have enjoyed your stay in our home town and we want you to know there’s always a glass of cold, sweet tea waiting for you.

Ya’ll come back and let’s sit a spell.
