CLILTON R. JONES
Clilton R. Jones, LCDR USN, retired, 73, native of Tarboro, died Sunday, May, 10, 2009 at Hope Hospice.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Florida.
Sharing and celebrating will follow at St. Andrew Parish Hall in Florida.
He was born Feb. 1, 1936 in Nashville, Tenn., the only child of Chilton and Gay Albritton Jones.
He graduated from Virginia Episcopal School in Lynchburg, Va., and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Following graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy, earning his commission as a naval officer and naval aviator.
He proudly served his country, including three Vietnam tours and earned the Distinguished Flying Cross in October 1967. He retired with 23 years of service as a lieutenant commander in October 1978.
C.R., a 31-year resident of Cape Coral, was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, the Fort Myers Chapter of SCORE and the Cape Coral BPOE. He cherished his friends, and 17-year membership in A.A.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Carol Dobbins; two sons, Ronald of Bangkok, Thailand and Scott of Cape Coral, Fla.; brother-in-law, James Carol Dobbins of Virginia Beach, Va.; sister-in-law, Yvonne Dobbins of Albequerque, N.M.; and loving nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hope Hospice, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Fort Myers FL 33908.
