KATIE LOUISE WEEKS SOWELL
TARBORO — Katie Louise Weeks Sowell passed away peacefully at the Golden Living Center on Friday, May 10, 2013.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Tarboro Church of Christ with Pastor Don McKinney officiating. Louise will then be laid to rest following the service in the family plot at the Pineview Cemetery, Rocky Mount, with her parents, J. Stancil and Fannie Mae Weeks and two beloved brothers, Brinson R. Weeks, Sr. and Joseph Oliver Weeks. -

Laura Dancy Stewart, 85, died May 9, 2013. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Funeral services are under the direction Dickens Funeral Service, Inc. of Tarboro.

GREENVILLE — Pamela Sue Willoughby, 45, died May 3, 20013. Funeral services were Saturday at New Mount Moriah United Holy Church in Greenville. Burial was in Willoughby Family Cemetery, Greenville. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Ward Memorial Funeral Home, Robersonville.

TARBORO – Albert G. Morgan, Jr., 55, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2013.
A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2013 at Carlisle Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Hendricks officiating.
Albert is preceded in death by his mother, Irma Andrews Morgan, and his father, Albert Morgan, Sr. -

WINIFRED ROSENBAUM PLUNKETT
DUNWOODY, GA. — Winifred R. Plunkett, 91, of Dunwoody, Ga. died early Monday morning, May 6, 2013 at home. Mrs. Plunkett was the daughter of Carl David and Myrtle Keel Rosenbaum. She was reared in Tarboro, North Carolina, and graduated from Tarboro High School in 1939. She then graduated from St. Mary's Junior College in Raleigh, NC, in 1941 and from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) in 1943. She was an avid tennis player winning the women’s championship at UNC and several state competitions. She was a gifted pianist in her youth and would play the organ for Episcopal parishes in rural communities near Tarboro before leaving for college. After graduation, she taught school and then joined the American Red Cross as a recreation counselor working with military hospitals. It was at Camp Blanding, Fla. that she met Capt.Woodrow C. Plunkett of Atlanta. Capt. Plunkett was recovering from wounds received overseas in World War II. They were married on Dec. 30, 1947.
Upon her moving to Atlanta in 1948, she taught math at Russell High School in East Point. After 1956 she was a homemaker as well as a substitute teacher. She and her husband were active at St. Martin-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church in Atlanta since 1972. Together with her husband, she enjoyed attending 508 Paratrooper Regiment Reunions. -

BATTLEBORO — Mrs. Mattie Rea Moody Sessoms, 73, of Battleboro, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Church of God of Deliverance in Rocky Mount. Burial will be in Sessoms Family Cemetery in Battleboro.
Arrangements are under the direction of H.D. Pope Funeral Home, Rocky Mount. -
Edna Webb Smith
Macclesfield — Edna Webb Smith, 95, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Breckenridge Retirement Center.
She was born on Sept. 4, 1917, and was the daughter of Ernest and Mary Crisp Owens. Edna was preceded in death by her husbands, Walter Webb, Jr. who was the father of her children, and Richard Smith. Her oldest son, Ernest Todd Webb, sister, Susie Taylor and her dear friend, Larry Walston, also preceded her in death. - More Obituaries Archives Headlines
