Master Jamiyas Darvonne McClelland, 3, died Sunday, July 29, 2012.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at United Friendship Church of Christ in Rocky Mount with Elder Herman Barnes officiating. Burial will be in the White Oak Baptist Church Cemetery in Enfield.

A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday in the Rocky Mount Chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home.

It breaks my heart to look at the puppies and kittens at the Tarboro Animal Shelter pictured in Monday’s editions of the Daily Southerner. June is National Adopt a Shelter Pet Month, and I pray these fur babies will find a good forever home. Bucking a statewide and national trend, the kittens have a better chance of getting adopted than the puppies. Why?
