TARBORO — Marian Reed Stallings Murray formerly of 2319 Frazier Road, Spring Hope, N.C., died April 27, 2012 at Vidant Edgecombe Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 11 .a.m on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Carlisle Funeral Home in Tarboro. Visitation will follow from 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at 4 p.m. in the Joyner-Stallings Cemetery, Hwy 1001, Ferrell's Bridge Road, Louisburg, N.C.

She was born on April 9, 1922 at home in the Franklin County community of Margaret. She was the daughter of Abner Claude "Cooper" Stallings and Lizzie Lou Stallings. She graduated from Bunn High School Class of 1939. She was married to J.C. Murray for 68 years until his death in 2010. She graduated from the Carolina College of Beauty Knowledge in Raleigh to become a beautician. Marian had a beauty shop in her home from 1954-2002. During this time, she joined her neighbor, Syble Woodard in Syble's Beauty Shop and later with Evelyn Perry at Town and Country Beauty Shoppe in Spring Hope.

Above all, Marian was a loving mother and wife. Family was most important to her and she cherished time spent with loved ones. She was a member of Gold Valley United Methodist Church, a Life Member of the United Methodist Church Women and she supported her home church, Shiloh United Methodist Church in Margaret, N.C.

She used her time wisely and filled every minute with reading, sewing, quilting, needlework, crocheting, ceramics, painting, canning and freezing garden vegetables and playing cards with family and friends.

She was predeceased by her only uncle, Thomas Stallings, her brother, Abner Dwain Stallings and her parents. With her mother being the oldest child of Matthew and Theresa Nichols Stallings, Marian Reed was like a sister to her aunts: Nonie Stallings Jefferies, Gladys "Biddy"Stallings Tant, Odell "Dell" Stallings Driver, Ida Lee "Doocha" Stallings Strickland, Lillian "Foot" Stallings Driver Medlin, and Daphine "Phinnie" Stallings Braswell.

She is survived by her son, Joseph Glenn Murray and wife, Peggy Louise Proctor of Zebulon; her daughter, Connie Yvonne Murray and husband, Alden Wayne Hull of Tarboro; her son, Richard Cole Murray, and wife, Mary Marguerite Snipes of Spring Hope; and her daughter, Cynthia Va-Rinne Murray and husband, Edwin Patrick Orr of Wilson; grandchildren: Peggy Denise Murray Wood, Melissa Ann Murray Simpson, Christopher Proctor Murray, Marian Harris Hull Ribbens, Elizabeth Ellen Hull, Catherine Cole Murray Ziencik, Leigh Anne Brittany Orr, Lindsey Reed Orr; and six great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank her caregivers: Carrie Alston, Frankie Boykin, Jeanette Royster, Peggy Arrington, Inez Perry, Ann Finley, Inez Sessoms, and Peggy Knight.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Joyner-Stallings Family Cemetery, in care of Richard Murray, 8817 Old Webb's Mill Road, Spring Hope, N.C. 27882.

Directions to the cemetery: Travel through Bunn past the Bunn Middle School on left (Alford's Mill Rd. on right), and go to the next right which is Ferrell's Bridge Rd.

BELVOIR — Mrs. Mattie Ruth Bullock, 81, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2013. The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson.
Mrs. Bullock, a native of Wilson County and a lifelong resident of Pitt County, was a graduate of Belvoir-Falkland High School. She was engaged in farming with her husband until 1989 and was a charter member of Belvoir Free Will Baptist Church.
