TARBORO — SNEEDS FERRY — Leroy “Frisco” Sasser, 80, of Sneads Ferry, died Jan. 19, 2013.

He was born in Tarboro, North Carolina, on Dec. 17, 1932 to the late Aldrich and Annis Sasser. Leroy graduated from Tarboro High School, went into the Navy, and upon his return, married Eleanor Spurgin of Tarboro in March, 1956. He retired from Carolina Telephone after 33 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Sasser; his brothers Martin, Johnny, and Bobby Sasser and his sister, Hilda Sasser.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; his daughter, Linda Sasser Baker and son-in-law, Richard Baker; his daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Winchester Collins and husband, Paul Collins; his sister, Virginia Sasser Painter; his brothers, Billy Sasser and Earl Sasser; his grandchildren, Benjamin Sasser, Mason Collins, Gena Collins, David Burroughs, Daniel Burroughs, Darren Sasser Baker, Buddy Baker, and Adam Baker; a brother-in-law Rex Spurgin and a whole flock of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews as well.

Funeral services will be held at Open Door Ministries, 4584 Reedy Branch Rd., Winterville, on Saturday, Jan. 26, at 2 p.m. The family will be available for visitation and viewing during the hour prior to the service. Graveside services will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Tarboro following the services and processional from Winterville.
