PRINCEVILLE —
PINETOPS — John Dwight Jefferson, 66, died Saturday, June 9, 2012.
Dwight is preceded in death by his father, Raymond Jefferson, mother, Thelma Jefferson Perry, and a sister, Marion Dilda.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the Pinetops Fire Station with the Rev. James Avery officiating. Burial will follow in the Queen Anne Cemetery, Fountain.
Dwight graduated from South Edgecombe High School. Upon graduation he joined the US Army and served from 1965-68, including service in the Army Special Forces. He graduated from East Carolina University and taught in the Edgecombe County School system for over 30 years. Dwight was a founding member of the Pinetops Rescue Squad and served as a member for the Edgecombe County squads for over 40 years.
Mr. Jefferson is survived by a loving family including his daughters, April Jefferson Short and husband Paul of Wilmington, Julie Jefferson Martine and husband Michael of Hampstead; grandchildren, Katelyn Short, Abigail Short, Benjamin Small and Piper Martine; sisters, Marie McKeel of Tarboro, Edwina Barry of Fountain, Marianne Taylor of Macclesfield; and a brother, Roger Jefferson of Pinetops
He is also survived by a loving extended family full of cousins, nieces, nephews and his Fire and Rescue Squad Family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Edgecombe County Relief Fund, P.O. Box 1156, Tarboro, NC 27886.
The family will receive friends at the Pinetops Fire Station from 9 a.m.. to 11 a.m.
Wednesday.

Mrs. Bullock, a native of Wilson County and a lifelong resident of Pitt County, was a graduate of Belvoir-Falkland High School. She was engaged in farming with her husband until 1989 and was a charter member of Belvoir Free Will Baptist Church. -
