MARGARET KENT PERROU

TARBORO — BURLINGTON — Mrs. Margaret Kent Perrou (Jinx) passed away in her home on December 27, 2012 in the presence of her family. Preceding her in death were her husband of 45 years, Albert F. Perrou (Bruzz), a son, Anthony F. Perrou (Tony), her mother, Margaret F. Kent and father and mother- in- law, Albert and Leah Perrou.

Survivors include her father, Jesse Charles Kent, of Burlington, NC; her daughter, Tina Perrou Brown and husband Robby of Comer, Georgia; and  daughter, Mary Perrou Chester and husband Greg of Graham, NC. Also surviving are daughter- in- law, Patricia Perrou and grandchildren, Madeline Perrou, Kent and Karis Brown, Caleb, John, and Matthew Chester and wife Stacey, and two great grandchildren. Jinx is also survived by two sisters, Carol Story (Sam) and Susan Smith (Deryl) of Burlington; her brother, Marion Kent (Tammy) of Tarboro, NC ; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jinx graduated from Tarboro High School in 1961 and Watts Hospital School of Nursing in 1964. She worked as a registered nurse for 47 years as a Certified Occupational Health Nurse. She was employed in several industries and mills and also employed at Kernodle Clinic, Alamance Regional Medical Center, Moses Cone Hospital, and most recently at Teva Pharmaceuticals.

Jinx was the former Director of Alamance County Chapter of the American Cancer Society. She was a former member of the Service League, Garden Club, a Board Member of N.C. Occupational Health Nurses Association, and Alamance County Meals on Wheels.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder, Deacon, and Sunday school teacher for many years. As a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, she will be remembered for her courage and strength of character, her gentle spirit, loving hands, huge heart filled with love for those she took care of, and devotion to her family.

A memorial service was held at First Presbyterian Church, Davis Street, on Sunday, December 30, 2012 with Rev. Peter Thompson and Rev. Robby Brown officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations honoring their mother be made to the Tony Perrou Scholarship Fund at Southern Alamance High School, 631 Southern High School Rd., Graham, NC 27253 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell for their loving acts of kindness and to the friends and family members who have helped during this time of sickness and loss. A special thank you to Dr Choksi and his staff and ARMC for their professionalism and care over the past few months.
