FROM STAFF REPORTS
PRINCEVILLE — A fire again ravaged the already burned-out A&M; Mini-Mart, at the corner of Main Street and Mullins Street in Princeville this morning.
Princeville Fire Chief Billy Boddie said this time there was "unusual" evidence recovered from the building, in the form of three 20 pound propane gas tanks.
"That's not natural in a burned out building" to find such tanks, Boddie said, especially since the property had already been boarded up.
The fire chief added that before the fire was called in around 5 a.m. today, "someone was in the process of trying to rebuild" the building. Previously the store's owner Aseed Ismail said he would rebuild his store as soon as possible.
Boddie said that Speed's, Lewis Community's, Conetoe's and Tarboro fire departments responded to the fire, and that it took 45 minutes to contain. Tarboro brought out its ladder truck, as Boddie said it was needed to help contain the fire.
