Argument leads to arrest
A Tarboro man faces a felony weapon charge after he allegedly brandished a handgun during an argument over a car.
Timothy Ray Tillery, 29, of 6080 N.C. 33 East, was charged with one felony count of armed to the terror of the public, and a misdemeanor failure to appear charge, after police responded to an argument Sunday afternoon.
Patrolman Charles Johnson said the call about the incident came in at 2:45 p.m. Sunday and Pender Square Apartments II on Benson Drive. Tillery allegedly had a confrontation with a 19-year-old woman over a threat of damage to his car. The woman then told police that Tillery had pointed a handgun at her during the argument.
Johnson said that a handgun was not found on Tillery when he was searched at Benson Drive. Later, Sgt. Bill Braswell found a 9mm Taurus handgun in the glove compartment of the Hyundai passenger car Tillery drove to the area.
