Scouts picking up food beginning Saturday morning

TARBORO — KINSTON — This Saturday, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Venturers and Explorers will be collecting food during “Scouting for Food;” the single largest one-day food drive in the nation. If you received a Yellow

Door Hanger last week, please have your donations out on your porch by 9 a.m. Saturday. Scouts who left your door hanger will be by collecting the food to take to your local food pantry. Enjoy the Hardees’s coupon as

a gift from the “Scouting for Food” sponsors, Boddie-Noell Enterprises Inc.

Community service begins at an early age for Scouts. For a Tiger, first grade boys, “Scouting for Food” may be the first time they learn to give back to their community. Community service is a constant throughout a Scout’s

career culminating for many boys, with an Eagle Scout project that makes a lasting impact on the community in which they live.

Historically, Scouts in the East Carolina Council collect over 80,000 pounds of food items to be distributed to agencies in 20 eastern NC counties east of Interstate 95. “Scouting for Food” is part of the national “Good Turn for America.”

Remember if you received an Yellow Door Hanger last week, to put your food out by 9 a.m. Saturday to be picked up by your local Scouts. Thanks for your contributions and encourage a Scout and their adult

volunteer leaders along the way.

Visit www.eccbsal.org or call (252) 522-1521 to learn more about how you can be a part of the Boy Scouts of America as we continue to help strengthen youth, families, and communities through Scouting programs.
