Tarboro man faces assault charges by pointing gun
A Tarboro man was charged with assault by pointing a gun, after he allegedly pointed a gun at family members Friday night.
Jyron Fitzgerald Fox, 20, of 408 East Northern Blvd., was charged with the misdemeanor after Tarboro Police were called to his residence around 8:15 p.m. Friday.
A woman who called police Friday said Fox had pulled a gun on her at the East Northern Boulevard residence, Patrolman Steve Dail reported. When Dail arrived, he said Fox reported he did not have a gun. Another policeman, Patrolman Jim Bennett, went to the backyard and found the black handgun that was pointed at the woman, Dail said.
According to two family members at the residence during the incident, Fox pointed a gun at them after having an argument with the woman, Dail said. Fox pointed the gun at the woman as well when she would not leave the residence after he told her to, the patrolman said.
When police questioned him, Dail said Fox "advised that the gun had no clip nor bullets, and (the woman) knew this and this is why she refused to leave." Once he found out police were coming to the residence, Dail said Fox threw the handgun in the backyard.
Fox was placed in the custody of a family member, and his district court date is set for Aug. 5.
