Art exhibit: "Seasons," a photographic exhibit featuring local artists Calvin Adkins, Bill Goode, Bryan Haislip, Rusty Kent, Jon Mlyniec, Demetrious Noble and Michael O'Brien in Hobson Pittman Gallery, Blount-Bridgers House. On display through July.
Art exhibit: Watercolors of Tarboro artist Motsie Brooks at Mims Gallery, Dunn Center for The Performing Arts, North Carolina Wesleyan College, Rocky Mount.
Benefit concert for Relay for Life: Friday, June 19, Sara Dew and Dew Point Rising, 8 p.m. Keihin Auditorium, Edgecombe Community College. Tickets: $10. Sara will release her new CD. Sponsored by the Masonic lodges of Rocky Mount, Scotland Neck and Tarboro.
Art camps:
• Manners Camp: June 29-July 2 from 9 a.m. til noon at Howard Memorial Presbyterian Church. Haffye Cox will teach basic table etiquette and other social graces to young students ages 7-10. A luncheon for students and their parents on the final day of the camp. Tuition $75 per child. Call 823-4159 for registration details. Space is limited.
• Art camp: Week One (July 13-17). Pre-K through sixth grade mixed media classes from 9 a.m. til noon at Calvary Episcopal Church’s Memorial Hall on Church Street. Grades 7 through 12 will explore the Principles of Design at the Braswell Center. Tuition is $55 per child. (two children $85; three children $100) Call 823-4159 for registration details. Space is limited.
• Art Camp: Week Two (July 27-31). Pre-K through sixth grades will meet in Pinetops at a facility to be announced from 9 a.m. til noon. Grades 7 through 12 will be taught Digital Photography and Composition at the Quigless Center in Tarboro. Tuition $55 per child. (2 children $85; 3 children $100) Call 823-4159 for registration details. Space is limited.
Children and grandchildren of arts council members receive discounts on all camp tuition fees. Family memberships are available at $45 per year. For details, please call the Edgecombe County Cultural Arts Council at 823-4159. Office hours are 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
