The program will be offered from June 22-Aug. 14, Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the St. Luke 21 st CCLC site on 100 Neville St. Applications are due by June 10.
Limited transportation will be offered to those without definite means of getting to the program.
Lunch will be provided to the students through the summer feeding program with Edgecombe County Public Schools.
Enrollment is open to students ages 6-17 with a focus on ages 8-14. The program is looking to offer services to 15-25 students in need of help.
“One of the major concentrations will be reading and math skills, and character building,” Thigpen said.
Opportunities will be made available for the students to attend a college tour, and participate in the summer library programs.
There will be three program assistants that will offer guidance to the participants, and volunteers are also welcome to help. About four or five volunteers are needed each day.
“We would like to have college students as well as some high school students so they can help with the camp as well as relate to the students,” Thigpen said.
Applications for program assistants will be accepted until June 8.
