Two personal injury accidents occurred in Edgecombe County Saturday, one where a motorcyclist was ejected and landed in the roadway.
That accident occurred around 3:43 p.m. on N.C. 42 near Thigpen Road, when Jason M. Wenning, 32, of Selma was ejected from his 1997 Honda motorcycle after hitting the rear-end of a 1990 Mercury driven by Joseph L. Parker, 42, of Conetoe.
North Carolina Highway Patrol spokeswoman Mary Lou Collins said that both were traveling east on N.C. 42 when Parker slowed down to make a left-hand turn onto Thigpen Road. Wenning failed to reduce his speed, hitting the rear-end of Parker's vehicle, being ejected from his motorcycle and landing on the N.C. 42 roadway.
Wenning was taken to Heritage Hospital in Tarboro for his reported injuries and has since been released.
Wenning was charged with failing to reduce speed and maintaining unsafe tires, while Parker was charged with driving while impaired and driving with his license revoked.
Earlier on Saturday, around 9:41 a.m., Javelle V. Jenkins, 16, of Macclesfield was driving north on N.C. 111, when he drove his 2002 Ford passenger car left of center near the N.C. 124 intersection near Macclesfield.
Collins said his vehicle then struck a ditch, causing it to overturn. Jenkins and a relative who was a passenger in the car, Mattie Jenkins, were taken to Heritage Hospital and treated for their injuries.
Jenkins was charged with driving left of center.
