In addition to the three inmates that escaped on Thursday night, an additional inmate managed to escaped on Saturday night.

Chamone Diggins, 17, of Pinetops, overpowered the guards around 9.30 p.m. to break free from the jail annex at the county courthouse. The guards involved in the incident weren't seriously injured.

Less than 24 hours later at 1:05 p.m., Diggins was captured in Farmville with the help of the Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office, Pitt County Sheriff's Office and officers with the Farmville Police Department. He was arrested without incident according to the Sheriff's Office.

Diggins is now being held at the Edgecombe County Detention Center, while an internal investigation is being conducted in relation to his escape.

Diggins was being held at the jail annex on charges on breaking and entering, larceny, felony, conspiracy, robbery, assault on a female and assault with a deadly weapon.

The three inmates, David Lee Cox, 29, Anthony Artrip, 37, and James Butler, 38, that escaped from the county Detention Center on Thursday night were found in West Virginia after holding up the City National Bank branch near Marmet, W. Va., They were captured after a police chase near the West Virginia capitol.

The inmates stole a 1989 white GMC regular cab truck to aid in their escape on Thursday night.

Two of the inmates were still wearing their jail-issued clothes, according to Kanawha County Sheriff Mike Rutherford.

The three inmates will be charged with escape and federal fugitive charges.

Sheriff James Knight said that it's rare to have multiple escapes in a short time span, but cited that new procedures will be enforced in the future.

Not following the guidelines already in place was behind the four escapes.

"The procedures were not followed, and we're still doing an internal investigation now," Knight said when asked about disciplinary action for the guards.

Of the three inmates being held in West Virginia, Artrip has a history of escaping from at least two jails, was on the U.S. Marshal's 15 Most Wanted Listed and is linked to or suspected to be connected with bank robberies in Ohio, Michigan, North Carolina, Indiana and Georgia.

Cox was being held under felony conspiracy charges at the county Detention Center, and Butler for the possession of a firearm by a felon.
