Fourth of July means closings
While most Edgecombe County residents enjoy their Fourth of July holiday on Saturday, they need to be aware of local government and business offices that will be closed Friday.
All Town of Tarboro, Princeville and Edgecombe County offices will be closed Friday.
Town of Tarboro Public Works will be closed Friday with no trash pick-ups. All recycling will be picked up Thursday.
Many area banks and financial institutions, including Tarboro Savings Bank, the Telco Credit Union and the State Employees Credit Union, will be closed Friday. Others, like The Heritage Bank, RBC Bank and BB&T;, will be open Friday and Monday.
The Tarboro Clinic will be closed Friday and Saturday, and reopen on Sunday.
Edgecombe Martin County EMC offices will be closed Friday. If people are experiencing problems, crews will be on call during the holiday. For assistance, call 1-800-690-0657. Payments can be placed in the night deposit box.
Edgecombe County Public Schools administrative offices will be closed Friday.
The Edgecombe County Landfill will be closed Friday and reopen Saturday. All county recycling centers will remain open Friday.
The George Henry White Post Office in Tarboro will be open 8:30 a.m. to noon on Friday, with mail deliveries made on Friday. All United States Post Offices will be closed with no mail delivery on Saturday.
Edgecombe County Memorial Library will be closed Friday and Saturday.
The Daily Southerner's business office will be closed Friday but the newspaper will be published.
