BELLES OF THE BALL

Two THS students place in debutante ball

Two Tarboro High School students placed in the Zeta Pi Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc's first Rhomania Scholarship Ball on March 21.

First runner-up was La'Kesha Shonta Myrick, daughter of JoeRoam Myrick and Carolyn Jones.

Second runner-up was Kiara Katrice Jacobs, daughter of Curtis and Sharon Jacobs. Both girls are juniors at THS.

Southern Nash High School junior Niesha Renee Vines, daughter of Keith and Natosha Vines, was crowned Miss Rhomania 2009.

A total of 10 area high school juniors and seniors were presented to society by Zeta Pi Sigma Chapter at Rock Springs in Greenville.

Dr. Lathan Turner, associate dean of students of East Carolina University, officially welcomed the young ladies.

The theme for the ball was "An Evening of Royal Elegance."

Michelle Gooding was the Mistress of Ceremony, and entertainment was provided by Kelvin Barnes as well as East Carolina Student Vocalists.

The ball included dance routines by the debutantes and their junior marshals and a waltz with their senior marshals.

The Beta Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. held their 61st cotillion on March 13, in which THS senior Jamica Nicole Bryant, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Irving Bryant was crowned queen.

Other participants in the Zeta Pi Sigma Chapter cotillion were Alexus Hinton, Conjetta Mccray, Quinshara Phillips, Courtney Smith, Takeisha Ward, Delicia White and Carlisha Wilson.
