Genealogical society meeting for second edit

For several months, the Edgecombe County Genealogical Society’s committee has been collecting historical information and family stories to publish a book, titled: "Edgecombe County-Heritage North Carolina 1735-2009." Information for the book has been collected and the first draft edited; however, there were still errors found in the final draft.

Therefore, committee members (and anyone else who would like to help) will meet at Lin's Super Buffet at 1406 Western Blvd, Tarboro at 6 p.m. Wednesday to organize re-edit of the final draft.

We had planned to have the book distributed before Christmas so they could be used as Christmas gifts, if desired. Unfortunately, an editing of the second draft will be necessary and will delay final publication. We are confident that the book will be ready sometime in January. The committee apologizes to anyone who might be inconvenienced by this delay. However, we are striving to make this a historical document of which Edgecombe County can be proud.

A similar committee is presently working on a Heritage Book for Nash County. At present, the final date to submit articles for that book is Feb. 15. Details are available at Braswell Library in Rocky Mount.
