To the Editor:

To the school board members and principal of Carver School, why is it you start out with saying bridging the gap between whites and minority students?

Then, the Carver principal said the school has a 30 percent gap between the reading proficiency levels of blacks and whites. What happened to Latino students?

At this day and time in the year 2912, I feel you should be ashamed of yourselves! All white students are not smart and all black students are not dumb. The are some who cannot read and write in all colors — black, white, blue or yellow.

I have four black grandgirls in the public schools here and they all read well — from first grade through high school. They were on honor roll and the principal’s list and graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill and UNC-Greensboro with GPA’s of 3.6 and 4.0 … so please, don’t put all black children and all white children in the same basket and THINK about the children you are talking about!

The sad thing is this time the American public is haunted by the ghosts of 20 innocent children and the claims by the proponents for assault weapons is making all gun owners look callous and uncaring.
