Genealogy Class

Meet Ashley Woolard

Kiwanis Meeting

   Howard Memorial Presbyterian Church Trustee Ed Roberson will present the program for the Tarboro Kiwanis Club at 6 p.m. in the Heritage Hospital Classroom.   Roberson will give a presentation of the future plans for enhancing the Tarboro Town Cemetery that will be owned by the church soon.

Gift Bingo

   The Happy Seniors Club will sponsor gift bingo on first and third Thursday of each month from 7-9 p.m. at the E.L. Roberson Center in Tarboro.

AUG. 6

THS Reunion

   The Tarboro High School Class of 1970 will hold its 40th reunion on Aug. 6 for classmates only and on Aug. 7 for classmates and one guest each. Reunion will be at Stack's restaurant in Tarboro. Barn Theater

   The E.L. Roberson Center's trip to The Dinner Barn Theater had to be rescheduled to Sept. 7.  Seating time is at 1 p.m. The cost is $78.40.  Price includes chartered bus, buffet lunch and gratuity.  Interested persons should register and pay a

$35.00 deposit, final payment due by Aug. 6th. Bus will be leaving from the Roberson Center at 9 a.m. 

Community Theatre Class

A three-weekend Directing class will begin on the Tarboro campus of Edgecombe Community College. Class meets Aug. 6-7, Aug. 13-14 and Aug. 20-21; Fridays 6-10 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. - 1  p.m. The instructor is Roberta Cashwell and the cost it $65. Call 823-5166 ext. 265.

AUG. 7

Yard Sale

   Yard Sale For the Heart from 7:30 a.m.-2 p.m. in the lower parking deck of Nash General Hospital. It will benefit the American Heart Association. To make donations or rent space, call 469-5617.

Yard/Bake Sale

   The E.L. Roberson Center will be having a yard sale/bake sale on Aug. 7. Proceeds will go toward seniors participating in the State Final Senior Games. If raining, the sale will be moved inside the center.

ECC Blacksmithing Class

A one-day blacksmithing class will meet or on Aug. 8 on the Tarboro campus of Edgecombe Community College. Class will be from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. and is limited to six students each day. The cost is $65 plus optional text “A Blacksmithing Primer” for $28. Call 823-5166 ext. 241.

Family Reunion

Flag Raising

   The Tarboro Golden K Kiwanis will sponsor a flag raising ceremony will be held at 11 a.m.at the Veterans memorial on the Town Common for PFC John D. Brown, U.S. Marine, World War II. The public is invited to attend.

New Student Orientation

Phil Ford Classic Gala

   Phil Ford Golf Classic Gala will be held from 6:30 p.m. to midnight in the Gateway Convention Center in Rocky Mount. The gala benefits the Boys & Girls Clubs of Nash/Edgecombe Counties.Tickets are $100 per couple or individual. There will be heavy h’ors d’oeuvres, live entertainment and dancing. AUG. 17

Kiwanis Meeting

   Kiwanian Steve Parker will present the program for the Tarboro Kiwanis Club at 6 p.m. in the Heritage Hospital Classroom.  Parker will present a program about his hobby of arrowhead hunting and will bring his collection of arrowheads and artifacts as well as discussing the Tuscarora Indian War of 1711-1713.

ECC Registration

   Final registration for Fall 2010 classes at Edgecombe Community College is Aug. 18 and 19 on the Tarboro and Rocky Mount campuses. Classes begin on Aug. 20. Call 823-5166 for more information.

AUG. 14

ECC Plaster Repair Workshop

A two-weekend historic preservation class in Plaster Repair meets Aug. 14-15 and Aug. 28-29 on the Tarboro campus of Edgecombe Community College. Class meets Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. and the fee is $20. Call 823-5166 ext. 241.

Road to Recovery Training

   The American Cancer Society is providing free training for volunteers for the Road to Recovery Program. The training is from 6-7 p.m. in the classroom at Heritage Hospital. Pet Food Bank

   SPCA Alliance of NC has a pet food bank for anyone who needs help taking care of their pet(s).  Donations are needed.  To pick up or donate, please call Cheryl at 563-5385.

Walking tours

     Local historian, Monika Fleming offers walking tours Saturday through August at 9:30 a.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Meet at Blount-Bridgers House. Tour includes the Historic District, Calvary Churchyard and Blount-Bridgers House. $5 per adult; children and students are free. No tours on July 24-25, 31.

TCO

   The Tarboro Community Outreach is in need of exercise equipment. Used or gently used. Call 823-8801.

Make-A-Wish Foundation

   Wish-granting volunteers are needed for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Eastern North Carolina. Wish granters visit the family and help determine the wish of the child while explaining wish procedures and using their creative side to make the wish truly magical. Caregivers Support Group

   The Family Caregivers Support Group meets once a month at 2 p.m. on second Tuesday in room 260 of the County Administration Building, 201 Saint Andrew St.

Angel Food

Conetoe Reunion

   We are trying to locate all of the members of the 1971 Conetoe High School Junior class, who would have graduated from Conetoe in 1972 had the school not closed down.
