Small Engine Repairs

A 13-week Small Engine Repair class begins on Tarboro campus of Edgecombe Community College. Class meets Tuesdays 6:30-9:30 p.m. Instructor is Timothy Williams. Tuition is $20. Call 823-5166, ext. 265 or ext. 220.

Tax Services

Free income tax services will be available every Tuesday from Jan. 26 to April 28 at the E.L. Roberson Center in Tarboro. Services will be provided from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Kiwanis Meeting

Dr Kristi Snuggs, vice president of Instruction at Edgecombe Community College, will present the program for the Tarboro Kiwanis Club at 6 p.m. in the Heritage Hospital Classroom. Snuggs will present an overview of the record enrollment at ECC.

Financial Aid Workshop

A workshop for high school seniors and parents to present information on college financial aid will be held at 7 p.m. at the Tarboro High School Media Center. Rosemary Stelma, financial aid specialist with College Foundation Inc., will be the presenter. Call 823-4284 for more information.

Golden K Meeting

The Tarboro Golden K Kiwanis will meet at 9:45 a.m. at the E. L. Roberson Center in Tarboro. Barbara Hardison will be the guest speaker and will talk about technology and teacher grants.

Crime Prevention Council

The Edgecombe County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council will meet at 2 p.m. in the Edgecombe County Administration Building Auditorium. The public is invited.

NAACP Meeting

The Edgecombe County NAACP will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the Pender Room of the Edgecombe County Memorial Library. The public is invited.

JAN. 29

Pancake Supper

The Acorn Hill Baptist Church is holding a Pancake Supper from 5-8 p.m. at the church on Acorn Hill Road off of U.S. 258. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12.

JAN. 30

Blacksmith Class

A historic preservation class on blacksmith and iron works will meet Jan. 30-31 on the Tarboro campus of Edgecombe Community College. Class meets from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Instructor is Randy Hodges, owner of Manteo Blacksmith. For more information call 823-5166 ext. 241.

Hypertension Workshop

The Quigless Natural Health Care Center of Tarboro will hold a Hypertension Workshop from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Edgecombe County Administration Building in Tarboro. For more information call 824-8301.

Relay For Life

A Relay For Life Purple Bow Making class will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Tarboro. Lunch will be available.

Flag Raising

There will be a flag-raising ceremony at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial at the Tarboro Town Common honoring Louis A. Best Sr. The public is invited.

Swim Lessons

The Harrison Family YMCA will begin a session of youth and adult swim lessons for all skill levels on Feb. 1. For more information call 972-9622.

A one-day class on Energy Efficiency in Historic Buildings will meet on the Tarboro campus of Edgecombe Community College. Class meets from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Instructor is Reid Thomas from N.C. State Historic Preservation Office. Cost is $65. Call 823-5166 ext. 241.

AWS Welding Certification

An AWS Welding Certification class begins on Feb. 8 and ends May 5 on the Tarboro campus of Edgecombe Community College. Class meets 5:30-9:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. Valentine's Concert

The Edgecombe Veterans Museum will celebrate Tarboro’s Birthday with a

Valentine's Concert by the Sounds of Gold at the McIntyre Auditorium on the

campus of the Edgecombe Community College in Tarboro. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Blount-Bridges House, the Tarboro Edgecombe Chamber of Commerce, Rusty’s Fine Gifts, the Edgecombe County Veterans Museum and at the door on day of concert.

Relay for Life

Kiwanis Meeting

Rick Mann will present the program for the Tarboro Kiwanis Club at 6 p.m. in the Heritage Hospital Classroom. Mann will have a presentation on identity theft.

Beekeeper Meeting

The Coastal Plains Beekeepers will meet from 7-9 p.m. at the Edgecombe County Extension Center in the Food and Consumer Science Lab. Enter at the rear corner of the Edgecombe County Administration Building. Bring a covered dish for the meal at 7 p.m., followed by the evening presentation, "Getting your bees ready for Spring." Muscadine Grapes Workshop

The Edgecombe County Cooperative Extension will host a Muscadine Grapes Workshop from 10 a.m. to noon for anyone interested in learning more about the culture and care of Muscadine grapes. Extension Associate Connie Fisk will give a presentation followed by a hands-on pruning demonstration. Cost is $2 per person. Garden Workshop

The Edgecombe County Cooperative Extension will host a Garden Workshop from 9 a.m. to noon for anyone interested in improving their garden harvest. Dr. Keith Baldwin, horticultural specialist for N.C. A&T; State, will discuss sequential planting and handling and storage of produce post harvest. Make-A-Wish Foundation

Wish Granting Volunteers are needed for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Eastern North Carolina. Wish Granters visit the family and help determine the wish of the child while explaining wish procedures and using their creative side to make the wish truly magical. Caregivers Support Group

The Family Caregivers Support Group meets once a month at 2 p.m. on second Tuesday in room 260 of the County Administration Building, 201 Saint Andrew St.

Angel Food

Conetoe Reunion

We are trying to locate all of the members of the 1971 Conetoe High School Junior class, who would have graduated from Conetoe in 1972 had the school not closed down. We are trying to plan a class reunion. Hunting Club

The New Hope Still Hunting Club is accepting new members who can hunt freely on 2,500 acres of Edgecombe and Pitt County land. Yearly dues are $460, and there are seven different farms for in-season hunting, including deer, squirrel, turkey and even bear in Pitt County. Contact Bruce Edwards, the club president, at 567-8557 to sign up.
