Workplace Spanish

Golden K Meeting

   The Golden K Kiwanis will meet at 9:45 a.m. at the E.L. Roberson Center in Tarboro. There will be a business meeting.

Gift Bingo

   The Happy Seniors Club will sponsor gift bingo on first and third Thursday of each month from 7-9 p.m. at the E.L. Roberson Center in Tarboro.

American Legion

   The American Legion Post 19 will meet at 7 p.m. at the Edgecombe County Veterans Museum. For more information call 314-7138.

JUNE 4

Playwriting Class

    A three-weekend Playwriting Class begins on June 4 on the Tarboro campus of Edgecombe Community College. Class meets June 4-5, June 11-12, and June 18-19. Friday classes meet from 6-10 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Instructor is Roberta Cashwell. Cost is $65. For more information call 823-5166 ext. 265.

 JUNE 5

Church Yard Sale

   The Pinetops United Methodist Women will hold a Church Yard Sale, to raise money for local mission projects, from 7-11 a.m. at the Pinetops United Methodist Church.

Pet First Aid & CPR

   The Frederick E. Turnage Chapter of the American Red Cross is now offering Pet First Aid & CPR. This course is designed for pet owners, animal regulation personnel and volunteers, pet groomers, pet rescue organizations, pet sitters, pet store owners and employees. Course is $40 or Dog or Cat  and $6 for both, and includes hands on training, Participant’s Pet First Aid Handbook and DVD. Course is held at the Frederick E. Turnage Chapter office in Rocky Mount.  A class will be held from 9 a.m. to noon and from 12:30-3:30 p.m. on June 5 (registration cut off is noon on  June 4).    The Ebonette Club of Tarboro will meet at noon at the home of Vivian Basemore.

Swim Lessons

THS Reunion

   The Tarboro High School Class of 1968 will be celebrating its 60th birthday for all classmates at O’Henry’s restaurant in Tarboro. The party will begin at 5 p.m. with a welcome and Happy Hour. JUNE 7

Flag Raising

   There will be a flag-raising ceremony at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial at the Tarboro Town Common honoring World War II veteran George W. Savage, U.S. Army Air Corps. The public is invited.

AWS Welding Certification

   An AWS Welding Certification class begins on June 7 and ends Sept. 1 on the Tarboro campus of Edgecombe Community College. Class meets from 5:30-9:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. ECC Camp Explore

   Edgecombe Community College is hosting a summer camp program called Camp Explore from June 14-17 for rising eighth, ninth, and tenth graders on the college’s Tarboro campus.    Pops On The Common

   The North Carolina Symphony will present the annual Pops on the Common at 7:30 p.m. on the Tarboro Town Common. In case of rain, the concert will be held in ECC’s Keihin Auditorium.

Pattillo Reunion

Make-A-Wish Foundation

   Wish Granting Volunteers are needed for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Eastern North Carolina. Wish Granters visit the family and help determine the wish of the child while explaining wish procedures and using their creative side to make the wish truly magical. Caregivers Support Group

Conetoe Reunion

   We are trying to locate all of the members of the 1971 Conetoe High School Junior class, who would have graduated from Conetoe in 1972 had the school not closed down. Hunting Club

   The New Hope Still Hunting Club is accepting new members who can hunt freely on 2,500 acres of Edgecombe and Pitt County land. Yearly dues are $460, and there are seven different farms for in-season hunting, including deer, squirrel, turkey and even bear in Pitt County.
