Historical Marker Ceremony
The public is invited to unveiling of NC Highway Marker recognizing jaxx musician Thelonious Monk, who was born in Edgecombe County, at 5pm at Booker T Theater, 170 E. Thomas St., Rocky Mt. Followed by reception, historical reflections on Thelonious Monk and Monk jazz festival.

Citizen’s Award
Wick Baker, President of Vidant Edgecombe Hospital, will be the recipient of the 2012 award. This honor is given annualy by the Boy Scouts of America.
