Progressive Democrats Club


Meeting  at 7pm at our District #11 Headquarters. A representative from each pricinct will share updates on their “Getting out the Vote” (GOTV) and Voters Registration Education activities. All members are urged to attend and bring your neighbors and some friends.



ECC - CPR

CPR for the general public meets on the Tarboro campus of ECC from 8am-5pm. Fee is $65. Call 823-5166, ext. 175.



Pinetops American Legion Post 316

Tarboro Women’s Club

Reading’s  Alive!

Book Club


Will  meet  in the Pender Room at  the Library at 10:30am. The book “Forever Young:  My Friendship with John F.  Kennedy, Jr.” by William Sylvester Noonan will be discussed.



Golden Kiwanis

Will hold the Annual Cookout at 6pm at Saint Michael’s Episcopal Church, 3204 Western Blvd. No meeting in the morning.



Matter of Balance

The E.L. Roberson Center will be hosting a Matter of  Balance Class once a week for 8 weeks from Sept. 19-Nov. 21, Wednesday’s from 1:30-3:30pm. FREE Class, the only requirement is that you are 60 or older. For more information or to register call 641-4263.

Juvenile Crime Prevention


The Edgecombe and Nash Counties Juvenile Crime Prevention Councils meet monthly on the 3rd Thursday of each month. time is 2pm at the East Carolina Ag & Education Center in Rocky Mt.  The public is invited to attend.



Happy Senior Citizens Club

Will  be sponsoring gift  bingo on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month from 7-9pm at the E.L. Roberson Center.



Tar River Tea Party

JAKES Event

The Tar River Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will host its 11th annual JAKES Event  at Rose Hill Farm on Hwy. 58 North, Nashville, NC. 9am to 1pm. Open to the public. Free Prostate Cancer

Awareness for Men & Women


Dr. Thomas L. Walker, local author, pastor, and prostate cancer survivor will give a special presentation at ECC-Fleming Bldg., Rm. 152 at 6pm. “Brother to Brother” event. Baby Safety Seminar

Beginning at 5:30pm in the Vidant Edgecombe Hospital Classroom. We will share important information on baby safety, nutrition for babies and breasfeeding moms, childseat safety, the safest way to lay your baby in the crib, dealing with persistant crying and much more. Tar River Players

Will be holding auditions for the 2012 Holiday production of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol on Monday & Tuesday, Sept. 24th and 25th at 7pm. Over 40 roles for different ages.
