1956: Elvis Presley’s hip-shaking performance on “The Milton Berle Show” resulted in a storm of protest.
1969: Blind Faith made its debut at a free concert in London’s Hyde Park.
1974: Sly Stone married Kathy Silva during a Sly & the Family Stone concert in New York City.
1977: Alice Cooper’s pet boa constrictor, a co-star of his live act, died after being bitten by a rat it was being fed for breakfast.
1989: Reba McEntire married her manager, Narvel Blackstock.
1990: A federal judge in Florida ruled that 2 Live Crew’s “As Nasty as They Wanna Be” was obscene. The judge cited the album’s graphic sexual lyrics.
1993: Ground was broken for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland. Pete Townshend and Chuck Berry were among those who attended the ceremony.
1993: Prince changed his name to an unpronounceable symbol. He later returned to the name of Prince.
2000: Eminem was charged with allegedly brandishing a gun in a confrontation with a member of rival group Insane Clown Posse.
2004: Jennifer Lopez married Marc Anthony at her home in Beverly Hills, Calif.

3rd Annual Breakfast with Santa
Classic Diner located at 105 E. Pitt Street in Tarboro has dedicated three years to serving children and their families with their annual "Breakfast with Santa" holiday event. This year, a special young lady will be granted the opportunity to have a private breakfast with Santa Claus, and according to Manager, Mandy Ray, everyone is in for a tasty treat.

‘A Christmas Carol’
The Tar River Players opened their seventh season with a gala production of Charles Dicken’s “A Christmas Carol” this past weekend playing to a capacity crowd in McIntyre Auditorium.
“We were thrilled with the turnout for the first weekend of “A Christmas Carol” and even more excited by the responses we’ve received from those who have attended,” said Director Roberta Cashwell. -
Flythe to sing in ‘A Holly Day Celebration’
Experience "A Holly Day Celebration" with Tarboro native, Kaitlyn Flythe as she collaborates with Ronnie Ezzel and Southern Comfort 7 p.m. Saturday, at the Edna Boykin Center in Wilson. Tickets for the holiday celebration will be sold in advance for $12 and $15 at the door. Children who are five years of age or younger can enter for free.
The audience will have the chance to sing along to a variety of songs and engage in a concert that consists of solos, duets, comedy, group songs and also a patriotic tribute to U.S. veterans. -
