Edgecombe Collects Exhibit: Featuring unique collection of items from town and county residents, the exhibit will be open until July 8 in the Hobson Pittman Memorial Gallery located at the Blount-Bridgers House. An opening reception will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m. tonight. Event is free and open to the public.

First Friday Writer's Series: Presents Jim Fredericks: New York Confidential at 7 p.m. tonight at the Main Street Cafe. The event is free and open to the public. There are open mic slots available. Call 824-0005 for more information.

Theater Workshop: The Tar River Players will hold their second Teen-Children's Theater Workshop from July 30 - Aug. 10. Will meet Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. until noon at Calvary Episcopal Church's Clark Hall. Fee per child is $45, $35 per child for multiple family members. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. on July 30. Boykin Cultural Center: Theater of the American South returns for its second season in Wilson through Sunday. The annual spring festival features two plays, culinary demonstrations, musical performances and educational programs showcasing the Southern way of life. Pops on the Common: The North Carolina Symphony will perform their annual outdoor concert at 7 p.m. Monday on the Tarboro Town Common. The Symphony will be conducted by Resident Conductor William Henry Curry. The event is free and open to the public.

Children's Museum and Science Center: Children ages 3-5 are invited to Kinder Science to learn about "Rootin' Hootin' Owls" from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, June 6. Cost is $8 for city residents and $9 for non-residents. For more information call 972-1167.

Community Pops Singers: Summer concert rehearsals will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 7 in the Cypress Glen Auditorium at 100 Hickory Street in Greenville. The program will consist of Broadway musical numbers written by Richard Rodgers. Singers are invited to join. Dues are $10 every four months. For more information contact Rachel Sturz at 321-8838.

Chidren's Museum and Science Center: Children who have completed grades 4-8 are invited to learn about museums as part of Junior Curators. The program is from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday - Friday, June 11-15. Cost is $110 for city residents and $130 for non-residents. For more information call 972-1167.

Edgecombe County Memorial Library: The Friends of the Library will host a benefit concert featuring Celeste Ray playing Celtic music on the psaltery at 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, June 14 at Calvary Episcopal Church's Clark Hall. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased from any Friends of the Library board member or at the Main Street of Pinetops branch libraries. For more information call 823-1141.

Edgecombe County Cultural Arts Council: The Council is sponsoring a Creative Writing In the Arts class by Dennis Hamrick for children in grades 6-8. The class will be from 9 a.m. - noon, Monday - Friday, June 18 - 22 at Calvary Church Memorial Hall. Cost is $25 for ECCAC members and $50 for non-members. Call 823-4159 to register.

Children's Museum and Science Center: Children who have completed grades K-3, are invited to experience Outdoor Adventures One to learn about science and nature. Edgecombe County Cultural Arts Council: The Council is sponsoring summer art camps coordinated by Maureen O'Neill. Classes are for children aged 4-6, 7-9, 10-12 and 13-17. Instructors include O'Neill, Dazzala Knight, Evelyn League and Melissa Matson. Classes, with a size limit of 10, are from 9 a.m. - noon Monday-Friday, July 23-27 at Calvary Church Memorial Hall. Cost is $35 for ECCAC members and $60 non-members. Call 823-4159 to register.

Edgecombe County Cultural Arts Council: Children ages 7-10 are invited to a Manners Camp with Haffye Cox from 9:30 a.m. - noon Monday-Friday, Aug. 6-10 at Howard Memorial Presbyterian Church. Final day will include a meal with invited parent(s). Cost is $50 for ECCAC members and $75 for non-members. Class is limited to 10. Call 823-4159 to register.

    Experience "A Holly Day Celebration" with Tarboro native, Kaitlyn Flythe as she collaborates with Ronnie Ezzel and Southern Comfort 7 p.m. Saturday, at the Edna Boykin Center in Wilson. Tickets for the holiday celebration will be sold in advance for $12 and $15 at the door. Children who are five years of age or younger can enter for free.
    The audience will have the chance to sing along to a variety of songs and engage in a concert that consists of solos, duets, comedy, group songs and also a patriotic tribute to U.S. veterans.
