TARBORO —
Shirley Lewis-Brazeal and Bernard Alston were married on May 26, 2012, at three o'clock in the afternoon at Swift Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. O.D. Sykes officiated the double-ring ceremony.
The bride was escorted by Aramis Brazeal, son of the bride, and given in marriage by her family.
The bride wore a floor length gown with a Chapel Train of Satin and Chiffon lace. The fitted bodice featured a scalloped, off the shoulder, neckline, was sleeveless and basque waist. Chiffon lace motifs outlined lavishly appliqued the bodice. Pearls and sequins beaded the lace motifs.
The floor length skirt extended into a chapel train. Beaded lace medallions adorned the skirt and train. Garlands and scalloped lace bordered the hem line of the skirt and train.
The bride wore a tiered veil of illusion flowing from a wreath of satin, and lace etched with pearls and sequins for the headpiece.
Maid of honor was Shirlresa Brazeal of Atlanta, Ga., daughter of the bride. Bridesmaids were Stephanie Cofield-Brazeal of Tarboro, daughter-in-law of the bride; Lillie Whitaker of Greensboro, cousin of the bride; Destiny Zecharyah and Keziah Brazeal, of Miami, Fla., granddaughters of the bride.
Deacon Robert Alston, Jr., of Red Oak Road, brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Isaac Brazeal of Tarboro, son of the bride; Robert D. Alston of Red Oak Road, nephew of the groom; E. Samuel Forbes, Terrance and Rodney Robinson, of Atlanta, Ga., grandsons of the bride. Ring bearer and Bell ringer was Master Jordan Robinson of Atlanta, Ga., grandson of the bride. Flower girls were Little Miss Makiya Smith and Little Miss Iyanna Brazeal of Tarboro, granddaughters of the bride. The wedding music was provided by the Male Chorus of Swift Creek Missionary Baptist Church. The wedding was directed by Rev. Milbourne of New Hope Community. The reception was held in the Fellowship Hall.
Register attendant was Susie Lewis of Swift Creek, niece of the bride. Serving punch, etc. was Lynette Pettaway of Princeville Community.
Other events honoring the couple were the Engagement Dinner hosted by Michael Pittler of Miami, Fla. The Bridal Shower, hosted by Lynette Pettaway, Stephanie Cofield-Brazeal of Edgecombe County, and Shirlresa Brazeal of Atlanta, Ga, and the Rehearsal Dinner was Friday night before the wedding.
The couple will reside in Edgecombe County.
