ECC students inducted into honor society

Sixteen students were recently inducted into the Alpha Omega Nu chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Edgecombe Community College.

Phi Theta Kappa is an honor society for students attending two-year schools. To be a member, students must have completed 12 credit hours in an associate degree program and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Students must then maintain at least a 3.25 grade point average to remain in the group.

The guest speaker at the induction ceremony was Bruce Panneton, a biology instructor and Keihin Endowed Faculty Chair holder at ECC. Panneton is a former Alpha Omega Nu advisor at the college.

More than 600 students have joined the ECC chapter since its founding in 1994. During any given semester, from 25 to 40 students are current members.
