Joseph Smith, founder of the Effie Smith Maddrey Memorial Fund said the regarding the Aug. 21 School Supplies Giveaway in Princeville was a success and "I would like to thank all the people that came out and supported the Effie Smith Maddrey Memorial Fund first annual School Supply Drive and Giveaway:
Styles Unique (Cathy Williams), WCPS-AM 700 (Stephanie Luchele), Dickens Funeral Home, Positive Generation In Christ, Phillips Printing Co., Terry Johnson, Norman Dozier, Police Lt. Gary Foxx, Princeville Volunteer Fire Department, The Princeville Welcome Center, Joe Williams Photography and Doris Stith.
"I would also like to thank the Town of Princeville for having us there. We had a turn of a hundred-something kids there. We gave out over a hundred school supplies bags and it was a success.
"I am just hoping to finish my vision that started with a dream of honoring my mother's name and donating the property back to the community and building a youth and senior citizen center for the youth and senior in the town of Princeville and to preserve the historical name of that town.
"I would also like to thank the Effie Smith Maddrey Memorial Fund Board members: James Martin, Marvin Graham, Michael Graham, Monica Rivers, Adisa Mangin and B Delores Farmer, L'Kenya Farmer, Jacqueline Price and board adviser, Jasmin Farnum.”
