The Edgecombe County Cooperative Extension will host the 2010 Strawberry Growers Preplant Meeting for Edgecombe, Nash, Wilson, Franklin and Halifax counties. This evening program is designed to educate strawberry producers about current insect and disease management strategies.
Following a catered meal, speakers from the North Carolina Department of Agriculture will discuss tissue sampling and fumigant posting.
Immediately following, researchers from N.C. State University will present an update on current insect and disease challenges facing the industry.
The meeting will be held on Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the East Carolina Agricultural and Education Center at 1175 Kingsboro Road (Exit 478 off U.S. 64).
There is no cost to attend; but, participants need to reserve seating by Monday by calling the Edgecombe County Center at 641-7815.
