ROCKY MOUNT —
Shakeal Moore, Edgecombe Early College High School student, won first place in the Rotary Club of Tarboro’s Rotary Against Drugs Contest. The win was Moore’s 21st in an oratorical contest.
Founded in 1905, Rotary is recognized as the world’s first volunteer organization. Rotary’s main objective is service—in the community, in the workplace, and around the globe. Rotarians believe changing the world starts with a commitment to service above self. The Rotary Against Drugs contest provides youth with an opportunity to answer the question: “What must be done to prevent drug and alcohol abuse in the United States?”
