FOR THE DAILY SOUTHERNER

Yvonne Ellis, service supervisor for Piedmont Natural Gas, recently won the “Golden Spoon Award” for winning the yearly chili cook-off that benefits the United Way.

Piedmont Natural Gas raised a total of $13,000 during the 2009 United Way Tar River Region yearly fundraising campaign.

“We appreciate the dedication and support of all the Piedmont Natural Gas employees”, said Ginny Mohrbutter, executive director of the United Way Tar River Region. “The company has been consistent with 100 percent employee participation. It truly is commendable!”

Each year the company holds an employee chili cook-off and invites “judges” from the community to be taste testers. The winner of the local cook-off gets to go to the company regional cook-off.
