TARBORO —
Attorney J. Chad Hinton has joined the Law Office of Taylor, Brinson & DeLoatch at 210 East St. James St. in Tarboro.
"I began work here on March 15," said Hinton, 28. "I am really pleased to be practicing in Edgecombe County."
Hinton earned his bachelor’s degree in history at Campbell University in Buies Creek, and attended Law School at the Elon University School of Law, which opened in August 2006.
"I was part of the inaugural class in the Elon University School of Law," said Hinton. "And I was the first president of the Student Bar Association at Elon."
Hinton is also a member of the Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity and received the North Carolina Bar Association Law Student Recognition for Pro Bono Service, having completed more than 75 hours of service in law school.
Hinton graduated in the top third of his law class and clerked with Judge A. Robinson Hassell of the the Eighteenth Judicial District (Guilford County), and interned with the Rockingham County District Attorney's Office.
Hinton passed the North Carolina Bar Exam in August 2009 and received his law license in September 2009.
Hinton is a member of the American Bar Association as well as the North Carolina Bar Association.
Hinton said that Greensboro Attorney Bill Eagles, who is originally from Crisp, introduced him to Edgecombe County Attorney Mahlon DeLoatch, who is also the Counsel for Edgecombe Community College, Rocky Mount-Wilson Airport Authority, Edgecombe County ABC Board and the Redevelopment Commission of Town of Tarboro.
“I accepted a position with Taylor Brinson & DeLoatch in February,” said Hinton.
Hinton specializes in estate planning and probate law, real estate law, municipal law and civil litigation.
Hinton said that he and his wife, Alicia, have enjoyed the change in Tarboro.
“We love Tarboro,” said Hinton. “It has a great small town feel, which was a big change for us coming from Greensboro.
“But everyone here has been very welcoming and we are looking forward to our life here.”
